I haven’t posted any updates because there haven’t really been any. Here’s a rundown of where we are and what happens next.
Once our homestudy agency sends us 3 sheets of paper that have been requested multiple times, we can send our dossier to the adopting agency in Oregon. When we receive the homestudy approval letter from the agency in Oregon, we can send off our application for the I-800A. This is another form that the government uses to determine if we are suitable to adopt a child internationally. (Because 2 homestudies aren’t enough?)
There is a worldwide database for adopting families that opens when adoptive families are needed. Fortunately for us, it has not opened for this next round of entries because there is no way we could get on it without our homestudy and dossier completed. When it does open, there is a good chance we will have to wait until it opens a second or third time based on our placement on the list. However, our God is much bigger than a database so we have faith that if it is in His timing and His plan, we’ll make it on the next opening.
We are ready to go, just waiting on God. Pray for these things:
We make it into the database when it opens.
We have the $12,000 as we need it that remains to be paid. (We have the next fee covered but after that, we’re back at zero in the adoption account.)
We get our child this year. This isn’t something that we are demanding from God – none of it is. We are just ready for life’s next big step and we feel this is it.
