Yesterday I was headed to sit in car line at H’s school and Toby Mac’s “This Christmas” came on the radio. I know I’ve heard it before, but it took on a different meaning at that moment. Read the lyrics:
Toby Mac: Now Johny never got his wish on December 25
That’s what he said when he left the orphanage
9 years old, but Johnny was an old soul
Gonna spend his first Christmas in a real home
Showed me a picture that he drew the night before
Was a picture of a man standin’ outside a door
I asked him who it was and he said someone I only
see in dreams
Comforts me when I cry myself to sleep
Woman: Father of the fatherless
Be with your sons and daughters this Christmas
It hit me hard – this should be R’s last Christmas without a family. This should be the last full year of her life as an orphan. In just a few
short months, she’ll be in the arms of people who love her as though they’ve known her for her entire life. I pray that until then, she is held in the loving arms of our Savior who came to earth to rescue us, to love us, to adopt us.
While you ready yourselves and your families for the Christmas season, would you consider donating $5 to our adoption? Just $5 to help us make this R’s last year without a family to celebrate with every Christmas for the rest of her life.
