Last update I shared how we were thisclose to learning of WHEN we could go get our beautiful girl. Then, we hit a bump in the road. It’s a good thing we’ve had our tires rotated, aligned, and our shocks replaced because it use to hurt a lot worse when we’d hit these speed-bumps. I’m not saying they don’t still cause a lot of discomfort but rather than tensing up, we just throw our hands up in the air and imagine the ride as a tiny, albeit rough-riding rollercoaster.
After receiving the latest translated file, Rob and I noticed some discrepancies within the document so we had to send it back for review and guess what… more waiting. The discrepancies were verified and are being corrected and translated once more. In the latest waiting game, I baked, A LOT. I hand rolled over 324 cinnamon rolls, 0ver 100 dinner rolls and bagels, and baked at least 50 loaves of French bread. THAT was a humbling learning experience. I learned that one day, I would LOVE to own a bakery. I also learned that baking cinnamon rolls at 3AM is not as much fun as sleeping at 3AM but, you do what you gotta do to keep up with demand! However, I digress in all of this. In our wait, God provided so many blessings through people – some we know well, others we may have met once, and still others we had never met at all. We were blessed financially, yes. But, we also got to share our story with many as well as our precious child’s photo (that’s right – you want to see her picture, you have to order baked goods! :-D). It was just an overall blessed experience.
We are still awaiting the latest word on what is coming. As soon as the file we need is re-translated, we can send in our i800 to USCIS and apply for DS260 (all I can tell you is that it has to do with immigration). This can take 8 weeks and then we should receive the dates we are allowed to travel. We would love it if you would pray with us that this is lessened to about 6 weeks. Our baby girl turns FOUR on Thursday. We know we can’t be there in person, but we’d love to be there as soon as possible.
Thank you to all of you who did place orders through our bake sale! I will be taking next week off to go get some cuddles from my newest niece. When I get back, if we aren’t packing our bags to travel, I’ll be back in the kitchen with some new offerings!
